Forensic Examinations and Investigations in the U.S.A
For thorough forensic examinations and investigations you can depend on, turn to American Forensic Technologies for superior results. Based in Coral Gables, Florida, we provide forensic examinations and investigations:
Criminalistics
The American Board of Criminalistics defines criminalistics as "that profession and scientific discipline directed to the recognition, identification, individualization, and evaluation of physical evidence by application of the physical and natural sciences to law-sciences matters." Criminalistics is in fact a subdivision of forensic science. Common forensic disciplines in criminalistics include the examination and documentation of tool marks, firearms, fingerprints, fibers, glass, paint, serial number restorations, questioned documents, explosions and fire, biological fluids and other biological materials, drug identification, shoe prints and tire tracks, and crime scene investigations and reconstruction. We provide detailed written engineering style reports after our work is completed, and we are prepared to testify in court when needed.
We can assist our clients in most area of Criminalistics
Trace Evidence Examinations
While the State of Florida is apparently no longer providing trace evidence examinations to outside law enforcement agencies in Florida, we at American Forensic Technologies can provide such services to law enforcement agencies in cases where such trace evidence examinations may be useful in serving justice, and resolving cases. We can perform such services as Gunshot Residue and Gunpowder Residue testing (GSR/GPR), paint, hair, and fiber examinations, and plastics and other materials identification services in general.
Immigration, SSA and SSI Forensic Services and Investigations
We offer forensic investigations, examinations, and analyses services for immigration cases, Social Security Administration (SSA) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims representations, paternity testing, and more.
DNA - Deoxyribonucleic Acid
We can schedule visits to law offices, law enforcement agencies, jails, prisons, courts, etc. for the purposes of taking potential DNA samples off of evidence, and/or what may be considered potential evidence for forensic DNA profiling. We can also schedule appointments to take Buccal swabs of persons needing DNA testing for any reason, including paternity testing. These samples are then forwarded to DNA labs we currently work with. We can then later assist with the interpretation of the results of the DNA testing performed.
Crime Scene, Accident Scene, Slip and Fall, Biomechanical and Kinesiological, etc. Investigations and Reconstruction
We provide a true engineering analysis of crime, shooting, accident, slip and fall, etc. scenes, and apply biomechanical and kinesiological analyses where applicable. We then provide a detailed written engineering report of our work. We can utilize computer aided design and engineering (CAD/CAE) software when needed.
Wrongful Death investigations and Forensic Analyses
Wrongful death cases are generally brought against a person, group of persons, a corporation, etc. that may be held liable for the death of a person or persons. A wrongful death is a death that is caused by carelessness, negligence, incompetence, or other wrongdoing by a person, group of persons or corporation. In cases of wrongful death, surviving family members, other victims or beneficiaries may be entitled to some form of compensation for their loss. We utilize our extensive forensic and investigative experience, knowledge, specialized training, and state-of-the-art technology when working wrongful death cases.
Product Liability and Failure Analysis
In our failure investigations and analyses we consider the original design and engineering work, materials science, overall product development work, and manufacturing processes of the specific product failure issues we are reviewing. We will investigate whether or not Concurrent Engineering (CE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) practices were properly implemented in the design, development, and manufacture of the product in question. We utilize such tools as Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), the Design Hierarchy, and Life Cycle Analysis. We also provide materials analysis, and identification services as needed.
